Loss Mitigation Specialist - Stager / SPOC / Closer

SMC is a privately owned Mortgage Banker located in New Orleans and is seeking a highly motivated individual looking for a career as a Residential Mortgage Loan Loss Mitigation Specialist.

The primary function will be to work directly with customers who are experiencing financial hardships to assist with completing applications for assistance and gathering needed financial documentation in accordance with Investor and Regulatory guidelines. Candidate must be outgoing, personable and empathetic toward customer issues. Daily process will involve telephone, email, and mail contacts, Excel spreadsheet tracking, system updates, work-queue monitoring, letter/notice generation, documentation review, and consistent timely follow up. Additional duties will be assisting with modification document preparation, closings, trailing document follow up, title endorsements, case close-out functions, and assisting defaulted borrowers with “short-sale” liquidation options. Must be willing to train and learn the Loss Mitigation process and accept other related Loss Mitigation duties as assigned. Candidate must be able to work overtime when needed.

Minimum Requirements:

Education:
HS Diploma or Equivalent is required. BA in related field is preferred.

Experience:
Min. 1 year Mortgage Operations experience, preferably in a customer contact area. Banking, Legal/Title Office, or other Mortgage/Real Estate experience will be considered.

Skill Set: 
Must be very well organized, able to multi-task, meet deadlines, monitor, track and report on progress or problems, and have effective communication skills. Strong attention to detail. Real Estate and Regulatory knowledge preferred. Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and/or Access is a plus.
